Charity Wizard is an editorial directory of US charitable organizations — combining live data, a historical archive, and original journalism on the American nonprofit sector.
The directory
- Current IRS Publication 78 data, updated monthly. Pub 78 is the official list of organizations eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions under section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. Each entry shows EIN, name, city, state, and current deductibility classification.
- A 2013 historical archive — preserves entries for organizations that appeared in an earlier IRS snapshot but are no longer in the current list (dissolved, merged, lost status, or reclassified). Historical-only entries are flagged separately.
- Live Form 990 financials on active organizations, fetched from ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer when you click an active EIN.
